Mission Sarbat Da Bhala

In January 2023, I started volunteering at Mission Sarbat Da Bhala Organization. I was inspired by their efforts to provide education to underprivileged children and help in uplifting women to be self reliant.

I contributed to this effort by helping teach underprivileged children Mathematics and English and also donated books and stationary to help in their education. Every other weekend for an hour, I would go and interact with the 10 year old kids, teach them English and mathematics and also provide them with healthy midday meals.

It felt really good seeing the kids smile and knowing that I am making a difference in their lives. This also made me have a greater appreciation for the comfort and opportunities that life has provided me and I hope to continue putting in efforts to give back to the society.

Covid - Daily Wage Worker Crisis

In March 2020, India declared a complete lockdown due to the rising Covid cases in the country. This led to most of the daily wage workers being suddenly out of jobs and no way of transport back to their towns. This resulted in a lot of them just camping out on the roads and waiting for the lockdown to get over or for the government to organize transport for them.

During that situation, I joined an initiative to provide food for those workers. We cooked in our homes as well as went to other homes in different apartment complexes to collect food. Then this collected food was distributed to these daily wage workers. We did this for almost two weeks until the government stepped in and helped these workers out.
